Liza's Best Dressed of the CFDA Awards

The CFDA Awards were the other night and unfortunately I was pretty disappointed with what all of the attendees and nominees were wearing this year. This is THE time for the fashionistas to step it up (besides the MET Gala of course). I was going to do a worst dressed list as well, but ahh... there were just too many that outweighed the best dressed, so here is my little select group of the few that killed it. Hope you all are great! So sorry I have been MIA in blog land. I've been enjoying the gorgeous HOT weather in Chicago! XO, Liza

Kirsten Dunst in Patrick Ervell- Amazing! Like I've said in the past, I'm definitely not a suit kind of gal, but this is just taking chic to another level. I'm not sure how I feel about the big hoop earrings... but I love the sleeked back high bun. Her black heels too are simple enough to not draw attention away from the fabulous blazer.
Shenae Grimes in Rebecca Taylor- Awww how I love Shenae, as well as the other girls from 90210. They are all just gorgeous and absolutely darling. This jumpsuit Ms. Grimes is wearing is beautiful. I love the lace bustier top of it. She looks so elegant and on trend.
Behati Prinsloo in Rebecca Minkoff- Only a model could pull this off, so it makes sense Behati chose to wear this awesome gown. I love the flounce of the little sleeves and the open back.
Erin Fetherston in her own design- The queen of girly fashion herself! This dress Erin is wearing is full of frills and it suits her just perfectly. Loving her new bob too!

Liza and Jewls Best and Worst Dressed of the MET Gala

Although these posts tend to get a bit overdone, as practically every blogger covers them, I just couldn't NOT review this year's Met Gala, honoring the amazing career of the late designer Alexander McQueen. From the countless film festivals to the award shows and now the Met Ball, I've made sure to do posts on all of our favorite fashion events from the time Jewls and I began this blog. I know you guys all love em!  For this one, I decided to review our best dressed and have Jewls join me to cover our worst dressed. After all, her comments make me laugh out loud every single time. Check out our picks below and let us know which ones are your favorites and which ones are just plain YUCK! XO, Liza and Jewls

Best Dressed:

Elle Fanning in Valentino Couture- What a little doll Elle is! I adore her to pieces. This dress is perfectly age appropriate and absolutely precious. I am completely and utterly obsessed and would wear this frock in a heartbeat! The shoes too are just darling. Perfection!
Freida Pinto in Chanel Haute Couture- Wow. This gown on Freida, compete with the tie, is so sexy and sleek. I am LOVING that neck and the off the shoulder sleeves. Her hair looks great too. Very sultry and elegant.
Ginnifer Goodwin in Custom Topshop- Stunning is all I can say about this whole look on Ginnifer. From her hair to her necklace to the dress, everything about this is GORGEOUS. There is nothing more that I love than a tight long sleeved dress with a splash of uber sexiness. Those cut outs on the side, the v neck, the little slit on the bottom? Agh! Oh and her hair? Obseeeesssed.
Hailee Steinfeld in Stella McCartney- Another little lady on the Hollywood scene killing it, one dress after another. This Stella gown is beyond beautiful and it fits her absolutely perfectly. I am adoring that hemline too. Simple hair and funky shoes complete her entire look. Five stars!
Alexa Chung in Christopher Kane- How can a fashion event be fashionable without Alexa Chung on the best dressed list? I really think it is impossible for her to ever look bad. This little dress is just so fun and SO her. She is truly everyone's favorite fashionista.
Ashley Olsen in Vintage Christian Dior Haute Couture- Another one of our top fashionistas is Ashley Olsen, KILLING it in this stunning Dior piece. It's a bit 80's Dynasty, but I can't help but loooove it. She is the perfect person to pull it off with elegance and ease.

Worst Dressed:

Blake Lively in Chanel Haute Couture- Blake looks like she just got crowned Miss America. What was she thinking with this gown? I know people think of her as a bit of a "fashion icon", but honestly I think she has just been around so many unreal garms in Gossip Girl's wardrobe department. Oh yeah, and Karl's mysterious fascination with her probably helps her cause. She's channeling Janet Jackson's superbowl wardrobe malfunction fiasco with this one. Lil' Kim would have worn this beautifully.
Alicia Keys in Givenchy- Alicia, Alicia, Alicia... You look like a muddy crocodile. Go back to the swap and try again. This is so bad. Maybe with the hair down straight and minus the jacket it would have worked, but this is just terrible! Well, no that belt just ruins everything. Throw the whole thing in the garbage!
Kirsten Dunst in Chanel Haute Couture- Kirsten, I normally support your choices, but this was really bad for your body type. A little granny-ish and way too sparkly for that length and print. I say no. Sorry little love.
Serena Williams in Oscar De La Renta- This looks like some sort of horrific reality show for bridezillas. If I had a nightmare of walking down the aisle in the ugliest white dress imaginable, this is what I would be wearing. And can we talk about the marshmallow firework that is bursting out of her head? Burn this!!!
Rihanna in Stella McCartney- Yo Ariel, give those braids a rest!!!! The Met Gala? A braid? Really? That is honestly just disrespectful. You're not running out to get coffee or going to the beach... you are wearing a gown for God's sake. A hideous one at that, but a gown none the less. Ri, pull it together.
Iman in Stella McCartney- Iman, you look like Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket! You just walked out of Studio 54! What is this jumpsuit?!! How old are you?!?! Noooooo!!! This is so so so bad! The disco days need to stay in the 70's!

Liza's Best and Worst of the Academy Awards 2011

The Academy Awards were pretty meh this year... Wasn't that into the show, but I WAS making sure to  note my best and worst dressed of the night! So typical that when Jewls texted me her top three favorites of the night, those were mine too! Hahahaha! Us best friends think a LOT alike! ;) XO, Liza

Best Dressed

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture- One word. STUNNING. This dress is most definitely high fashion, so I kind of understand that some people may not get it. I, on the other hand, am in love with it and Cate Blanchett clearly gets it. The dress is beyond unique and so different. I love the sleeves, as well as the incredible back. I can't picture any other actress wearing it with such elegance and confidence.

Michelle Williams in Chanel Haute Couture- I can never get enough of what Michelle Williams wears to movie premieres or award ceremonies. She always looks SO beautiful and so chic. This whole look.... the hair, the make-up, the dress... absolute perfection.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Haute Couture- Absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE this color on her and the draping on the dress is incredible. It's sexy, but in the classiest way. Love the final touch of simple earrings, a bracelet, and no necklace. This dress has such a gorgeous neckline and wearing anything around the neck would take away from the entire look. I think Mila nailed it!

Worst Dressed

Penelope Cruz in L'Wren Scott- Definitely my worst of the night. This looks like she bought it at the mall or something... It's like a really bad cheesy prom dress! Ugh! So awful! She usually looks great, but this gown is terrible.

Nicole Kidman in Dior- This one is pretty bad. From far away, it looks like there are seashells or something on her dress. The cut is really bizarre too! Hate it. Very tacky and creepy.

Florence Welch in Valentino Couture- I love this dress... I really do! Problem is it looks AWFUL on Florence. She is so fair with her red hair and pale skin and it just does not work on her whatsoever. She almost looks shlumpy in it? I don't know, but something is totally off for me.

Liza's Best and Worst of the Golden Globes 2011

Ah I love the Golden Globes so much. Nothing like a cold Sunday winter night to curl up on your couch and watch your favorite actors and actresses scoop up awards for our favorite shows and movies. The show is not even over yet, but I already am posting my best and worst dressed! It is so easy for me to choose... I'm even like that when I shop! When I see something I love or don't love, done and done... I've made my mind up. So without further adieu, here are my picks for best and worst dressed of the Golden Globes this year! Enjoy! XO, Liza

Best Dressed

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein Collection- STUNNING! I mean... I died everywhere when they showed her on the screen. I wasn't sure about Emma as a blonde at first, but with this dress? Her skin tone too? Perfection! I am so in love with the back of the gown too. Super sleek and sexy, yet not over the top at all. The hair is elegant and simple as well to top off the look. Love it ALL!

Leighton Meester in Burberry Prorsum- My second favorite for sure. I pretty much always love what Leighton is wearing, especially this last year. She never chooses anything safe whatsoever and I love that  she is willing to take risks, regardless of being in best or worst dressed. That to me, is a true fashionista. It's hard to come by those in Hollywood nowadays, don't you think? Anyways, this dress is a true beauty. I love that it's long sleeved, somewhat retro, and finished off with a tasteful slit. The hair too is simple enough to not draw away from the dress. Yay Leighton!

Claire Danes in Calvin Klein Collection- Another creation by Francisco Costa? I am not shocked at all.  His dresses are always beyond beautiful, understatedly sexy, and Ms. Danes and him are close friends. Sooooo of course she picked out the perfect dress to accept a Golden Globe in. I love the color and the gold cuff on her wrist. Gorgeous!

Worst Dressed

January Jones in Versace- Oh no January. You were on my best dressed last year in Lanvin, but this dress is the complete opposite of that! Waaaaay too skanky for me, especially for the Golden Globes, ya know? The fringed bottom too? Bleh! Not feeling it at all. I do love her hair and make-up though. She is naturally beautiful and always shines.

Natalie Portman in Viktor and Rolf- I know some people may love this dress, but I did not at all... I dunno... something about that red beaded flower on the bust? I hate it.... and with the matching red clutch and red shoes? Not her best look. She is gorgeous though and one of my favorite actresses. Loved her acceptance speech. Adorable.

Christina Hendricks in Romona Keveza- Again Christina? I mean... this chick always is in the ugliest dresses!! What is going on with that? The flower on the shoulder is bigger then her head! With that vibrant red hair too... a bright red dress just isn't the wisest decision.

Worst Dressed of the Day: The Kardashian Sisters

K, so I always do "Best Dressed" posts, so I figured I would do a worst dressed one when I saw this picture on one of the gossip blogs this morning. Wow. I don't know where to begin with these three! YIKES! I'll admit it... their show on E! is entertaining because they are such brats and always have crazy escapades and fights going on. But lately, the get ups these girls have been sporting are well... just bad. Kourtney here looks gorgeous, but her outfit is horrendous. If you are gonna wear leopard, stick to one piece. Wearing a leopard coat AND shoes looks ridiculous. Khloe I think is the best out of the three, but I am not sure those leggings are flattering on her. And finally with Kim... Oy. She is beyond busting out of that coat! It draws attention to her chest in a very bad way. The dress underneath it looks cute... She should have just worn that alone with a cool statement necklace or something. Ahh... I would love to get my hands on these outfits to change them up. Not sure their stylist is doing her job! On the other hand though, their makeup looks beautiful and fresh. Kudos to whoever did that. Anyways, Happy December 1st! It was snowing here this morning, so I think I'll be laying around in my big Wildfox sweatshirt and cable knit leggings all day with Angel. Hope you are all having a great week. Can't wait to show you my best dressed of the week for Friday. It's a good one! XO, Liza

MOCA Los Angeles Gala

All of Hollywood's fashionistas were out last night at the MOCA Los Angeles Gala and they all looked absolutely beautiful... decked in Chanel of course! Everyone looked impeccable, but I did have a top fave. Check out the pictures below. XO, Liza

Kirsten Dunst- Although it is quite simple, I think this dress is my favorite out of the bunch! It reminds me of something from the 1920's... something that Daisy Buchanan from "The Great Gatsby" would wear. I adore it. Her short hair is perfect with it too.

Ginnifer Goodwin- This is pretty stunning. The bottom is fabulous and I really love that neckline. Ginnifer is one of the few in Hollywood that can pull off that haircut because she has such a pretty face.

Rachel Bilson- Meh. I really can't stand this girl. I hate to be mean, but when is the last time she has been in something? She is ALWAYS at all the events getting photographed and I can't figure out why? Kind of strange...but her dress was pretty awesome I must admit. It's not everyones cup of tea, but I think all the details on it are magnificent. Her hair looks pretty, but it may have been nice if she had worn a low chignon with that dress.

Mila Kunis- Love her, but I'm not sure I am completely sold on the dress. Mila always looks gorgeous though. So pretty and I love her vibrant personality.

Kate Bosworth- Really... when does Kate Bosworth not look perfect? She always hits it out of the ballpark when it comes to fashion. She has such great street style in addition to when she has to dress up for events.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale- I love these two together. They are such a great couple. Always perfectly polished and chic. Gavin looks hip and handsome, while Gwen looks effortlessly cool. Love her style.

My "Yes and No's" from Front Row Paris Fashion Week.

I am only going to cover a few shows at a time as it gets overwhelming! Lize I see has already explained that we become very "studious" during this time. I actually prefer Paris Fashion Week. The backstage, the accessories, the beauty coverage, the parties... Ah, I live for all the little details. So bear with me as I slowly depict them all for myself and for all of you guys! I have been working crazy long days for what seems like the last month with a quick seven day jaunt back to the East Coast. Now I am back in LA and off to Santa Barbara today with work for the weekend. Guh. Ah well...Wifi seems to be available where I am going, so I won't abandon you guys. I promise!

On to the more important stuff. Front row looks from Chanel, Miu Miu, McQueen and Louis Vuitton. I have some "love it" and some "hate its". Off I go. Let the discussions begin. Hope you're all fabulous! I have misssssed you!

X. Jewls

CHANEL

Leigh Lezark. Don't run into me or I will literally rip this dress off of you Cinderella style. Agh, so stunning. This is my favorite.

Oliver Zahm and Poppy Delvigne. "The cool guys". I love this shot.

Ellen Von Unwerth. One of my absolute idols. I would kill to do a shoot with her, style it or have her photograph me. I would take whatever I could get. She is such a genius.

Alexa Chung and Lily Allen. So cute.

Vanessa Paradis looking mysterious and chic as usual.

Clemence Posey looking like a baby doll like she always does.

Rachel Bilson. This is terrible. No no no.

Rita Ora. This is fun but a little on the tactless side for me. I get it for her though.

LOUIS VUITTON

Alexa looking very ladylike, but brush your hair?

Jessica Chastain looking deliciously high cheekboned and elegant. For those of you who are as obsessed with the book "The Help" as I am, she is cast to play Celia Foote! Agh, I love it!

Alexandra Richards. Looking a little worn out. Not into this at all.

Amber Rose. We can't deny that she has a really beautifully proportioned face, but the rest of it has always just been "ick" to me.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Anna Della Russo. This was my only pick from McQueen. This the perfect mix of functional and costumey. I know I am nuts for saying that but I really would wear
that headpiece all over the place. I LIVE FOR IT.

MIU MIU

My favorite look from Alexa so far. Lize and I would both snatch this dress in a heartbeat.

Ri, you are trying way too hard. Woah. This is bad bad bad. Too much color and too much accessory. Too much fur. Too much print. Like where is the human being? TOO MUCH EVERYTHING. Not into this look AT ALL.

Dakota, yes you are the best actress of your age but dressing like a capsule of Pepto Bismol does not suit you. I'm sorry. Not into this one either. Her make-up on the other hand is fresh and completely age appropriate. Thumbs up there.
