Streetstyle Spotlight: Coachella 2011

Coachella has become the casual West Coast grassy meadow version of NYFW's street style and I live for it. There were so many rad ensembles snapped this year. It was really hard for me to pick my top favorites! I wish I could have gone. Not to mention that Mulberry threw their pool party at The Parker where I just stayed in Palm Springs. Gah, I want to go back already. I may need to plan another getaway, stat! Most girls grab their shortest pair of daisy duke jean shorts, a floral top, a straw fedora, and scuffed up boots, but some chicks surprised me by whipping out some seriously darling dresses and skirts this year. Ahh, and the sunglasses... I have been lusting after each picture. I swear, there should be a store called "Coachella Sunglasses". I want all of them.  Enjoy my top picks below and let me know which one is your favorite! Well it's Friday lovers... any fun plans? I am off to a dinner party tonight and then I may lounge at the beach all day tomorrow with my man.  Hope you all have a good one! Kisses.

This photo reminds me so much of Lize and myself. Unitards, cut offs, jet black shades, and an arm full of our signature "BFF bracelet stacks". We've been wearing them since we were 16. Also the girls have a handful of rings on, which we also do. Not a day goes by that we don't have at least 10 rings on. We wear one on every finger and stack all the little ones. We are naked without our accessories and no one wears them quite like us. Wearing jewelry a certain way is the best way to individualize your ensemble and create a signature for yourself. Awww, this photo makes me miss her so bad! Come to LA, Lize!
Alexa head to toe in Philip Lim. I would do anything for this dress. Check out this close up below.
Look at that beading! Stunning! But as usual, I love how she keeps it young and silly with the blue nail polish. She is just the cutest thing.
I feel like Kate kind of leads the way with the best Coachella looks. She has been nailing it year after year. She wore this amazing Balmain top this year. Clean, patriotic, and simple. I give it two thumbs up.
That red cut out dress? Are you kidding me. Cutest dress I have seen so far.
This romper is so unique. I love how billowing and see through it is. It would be so sexy with a swim suit peeking out underneath. I want, want, want.
Diane Kruger looking beyond lady like and put together as usual.
Her sunglasses win. They are the best.

Girl to Watch: Gillian Zinser

I am constantly feeling like I am running low on girls my age that inspire me with their natural style. I spend hours and hours searching through the masses of blogs that saturate blogspot these days, yet no one really seems to do outfit posts of good old streetstyle anymore.  Everything seems to be a bit provoked and planned except for Rumi from Fashiontoast... and check her out... she's got the number one blog because people live for it!  It's become clear that readers want to relate to a person's real streetstyle, where they are, what they are doing, what they wore there... the whole bit! It's like being their real friend. It's nice to be able to identify, relate, and somewhat respect someone for their natural ability to "throw an ensemble" together. So last night when I was cruising through streetstyle photos, I came across Gillian wearing a sequin moo moo. Um, are you kidding me? I laughed out loud and exclaimed to myself "God! Finally! Someone wearing something with some character!"  John laughed at me and said "Oh, what now?! What did you find?" Peering over my Mac, he agreed with my newfound love for her. He completely gets my weird sense of fashion. If he didn't, I probably wouldn't be marrying him! Hahaha. Since I don't watch the TV show, I learned by checking out her bio that she is the newest character "Ivy" on 90210.  So hooray even more! Another actress having a little bit of model off the runway flare... rare to find and I am into it! So far there are really only about six outfits photographed of Gillian, but I will be searching for more and keeping you guys updated. She is gorgeous and totally experimental without care and a certain flare that has me staring and wanting more!  PS: her hair is to die for! Can we talk about that? I have been craving going blonde for some time now... these may just be the photos that send me over the edge to go in and DO IT once and for all! ;) Hope you're all fab! Kisses!

Perfection. Head to toe. I live for this.
I normally hate leopard print anything, but these pants are precious with this get up. Love it. Her upper body looks killer in that uni too. And what are those necklaces? They're fabulous.
The skirt. The purse. Amazing.
My second favorite look. This cloak is so bad ass.
A fur with painter jeans? Yes, I will be emulating this look fuhhuuursure.
Love the pink in her hair. Reminds me of when mine was pink! And who knots a dress like that? So unique!
Look at that face! SHE IS SO PRETTY!!
Total goon goof ball. My kind of girl. ;)
I say plaid is OK worn like this!!! She looks sick here.
This is borderline MK. Still adore it though.
The sunglasses, that hood, the Doc Martens. This is not unlike what I was wearing yesterday.
Love how these jean shorts come down in the middle. Rad.
What is this incredible cover up? I need it in my wardrobe immediately!

Street Style Spotlight: Model Hanne Gaby Odiele

I think we are long overdue for a nice big street style post. They are personally my favorite to do, as they are the most challenging to conjure up! My pick for best street style of the week is going to be Hanne Gaby. Hands down. Lize and I have covered plenty of models off the runway style in our two years of blogging and my newest addition to our long list of cuties is Hanne Gaby Odiele. She is now 22 and originally from Belgium. She started blowing up back in 05', then suffered from a severe car accident, and had to take time off. Now back on the scene she has become one of the most in demand models of the season. It's easy to see through these candids that she is a total carefree goon, much like my fave Frida Gustavsson.  I always believe that the sillier the better and the more fun and goofy the girl is... the more natural and full of life the photo will come out! I personally think Hanne is darling and her off the runway style is definitely off the cuff and out there. My kind of girl for sure. Out of the box, not a trend follower, and mixes and matches pieces to suit her own mood. I have enjoyed plucking through and finding my top picks. I am off to a rigorous yoga class and then out to din and cocktails with John and all my boys tonight. Happy Friday guys!  Mwa!

Could she be any cuter?

My top pick. Everything is about this is perfection. Ugh, what I would do to get my hands on that perfectly constructed tuxedo jacket!!!

Here with friend Toni Garrn. Such a goof! This is so Lize and I. I live for it.

Having a drink with Alexander after his show. So precious.

My second favorite. What in God's name is that harness around her chest? I need it on my body right now. I kind of am obsessed with this look. Although it's a bit dominatrix with the clear pump heel, I adore how her hair is down and messy and she has no make up on. It's the perfect way to keep this look light.

Again, totally silly. What the F is she holding? That thing is amazing. I love how she is posing with it as if it's another person standing with them. She is hilarious.

Ok, I know 98% of the world would hate this look, but I find it intriguing. I love each print and each piece. Why not throw it all together for a deliciously 70's look? I give her two thumbs up on this. It's fun and head turning. Experimenting and playing around is what fashion is all about... not rules and regulations!

Now for a complete 180, we have this look. I love how she bounces so far with her outfits much like Lize and I. One day she is scrubby, one day she is lady like, one day she is in menswear... that's the way to play with your fashion palette. This is exquisite to me. The double collars with this stunning coat against the crazy printed jeans and topping it off with a punk boot. Perfect juxtaposing. Love love love this.

Amazing.

A good all black ensemble.

What most models look like straight off the runway. A ratty t shirt, check. Skinny jeans, check. Beat up boots, check. A huge bag to fit all her stuff, check. And a warm coat to face the harsh NYC winters, check. Classic model look.

I love this little slip dress paired with that absurd hat.

More silliness with Kasia Struss and Jac Jagaciak (two of my other favorite models). Her striped sweater looks so comfy.

Street Style Spotlight: Model Elena Perminova

She's got a billionaire boyfriend... She went from selling drugs in Russia to being a successful model... She had a baby in 2009 with her beau... She has sick fashion taste. This girl has a lived a pretty full life to be in her early twenties. Seemingly all put together, Elena has a knack for looking polished, yet unpredictable. Kind of a hard combination to nail. She stays quite under the radar, but here are some style snaps that I spent a long time gathering for us to "oogle" over. Enjoy! ;)

I want to snatch it off her head.

And she clearly loves her headpiece too. ;) Gotta love a "binger".

In Proenza Schouler, one of my favorite looks. Not normally a look I'd be into, but for some reason this is so appealing to me. I think the hat makes the whole ensemble.

Button face. I adore the high tops with the skirt. It's so five year old. I live for it.

Easy go to.

In Rodarte... quite obviously. ;)

I don't know what this thing is... but it's sick!!!!

After Celine. This white dress murders me.

In a darling cropped Chanel jacket.

Can't find an ID on this thing anywhere... and it's one of the sickest bird like things I have ever seen. So nuts. If anyone knows who did this piece, let me know!

Sergio Rossi pumps with socks. Precious.

Twig in spandies and a sick white fur. Again, no ID. Love this look!!

Decked in Alaia.

Ahh, the coveted Givenchy jacket.

Flying away???? HAHAHAHA!

I want these socks!!

Such a pretty shot with the sun. Love her expression here. :)

Giambattista Valli F/W 10. This dress has killed me over and over again.
