Come SALE Away!

So now that Christmas is over and the new year is approaching, everything and anything good online and in stores is on SALE! I love it! Marked down 50 % or even 70 %, I suggest hitting up your favorite stores and sites ASAP to snag those items you've been keeping your eye on. I know I have! Here are my some of my faves.  XO, Liza

Opening Ceremony Lace Up Boot Clog (Originally $555.00, Now $388.50). So not a major markdown, but these boots could be paired with practically anything. Love the pony hair and the small little studs. Available at La Garconne.

Erin Kleinberg Silk Velvet Drawstring Shorts (Originally $195.00, Now $58.49). Continuing on with the velvet trend... I adore these. I have always loved the combination of black and blue. These would be adorable with some black opaque tights and a pair of sick boots. Available at SAKS.com.
A.L.C.  Cooper Shirtdress (Originally $594.00, Now $297.00). This dress is fab. I could see myself getting a ton of use out of this one. Such a great piece to have. Available at Shopbop.com.
Alexander Wang X Linda Farrow Matte Sunglasses (Originally $325.00, Now 227.50). It is rare that great sunglasses get a markdown, so I was pretty surprised when I saw these! They are a really awesome basic pair of glasses to have. I always say... you can never have too many pairs of sunglasses! Available at La Garconne.
Lover Slouch Silk Shorts (Originally $304.00, Now $152.00). These shorts are on my wishlist at the moment. I love them SO much... the soft color, the fit, the length. So great. Available at Shopbop.com

Pendelton X Opening Ceremony Military Cardigan (Originally $685.00, Now $343.00). All the Pendelton X Opening Ceremony is amazing. The pieces are bright, fun, and ultimately super wearable. I particularly love this cardigan. Available at Opening Ceremony.
Rag & Bone Somerset Booties (Originally $475.00, Now $332.50) These babies are gonna go fast. I just know it! Such a great pair of boots to own. Once all beat up and worn in, they would look pretty awesome. Available at Shopbop.com
Thakoon Pompom Dress (Originally $1,260.00, Now $630.00). And last but not least, one of my favorite dresses of the year by Thakoon. Ask Jewls... I called her immediately the minute this piece popped up online. So incredible. It's on sale on a few sites at the moment, but this one markdown is crazy! Available at Kirna Zabete.

Outfit Post: Beverly Wilshire Hotel

Mommy is in town for the holidays, but I can only cram in two days with her before I pop off to Vancouver and Whister, Canada with John and his family for Christmas. So my sis and I decided The Beverly Wilshire for a delish lunch would be a good way to spend some family time all together. After a massive truffle risotto and a huge dessert sampler, we slothed back out to the valet so content and happy to all be together. On the way we snapped some shots in front of all the darling Christmas decorations. Yaaaay for the holidays! I am officially done with work and on vacation for the next nine days! I live for it!!!

Blogger Spotlight: I've Got a Lust for Life

I always love stumbling upon awesome fashion blogs, whether they are brand new or pretty established ones I haven't discovered yet. Strictly pictures/editorials or all outfit posts, I have a small bunch that I check daily. The other night though I found a pretty fabulous blog by a girl with pretty fabulous style. It is rare I say that too, as I find it hard lately to find girls with style I relate to.  Everyone has become so uniform and I love people that take risks with fashion... they don't take themselves too seriously and ultimately have fun with what they are wearing. That being said, here are a few pictures of the blog, I've Got a Lust for Life, created and run by Olivia Lopez. Her killer killer style is documented all throughout her site, dating back to 2008. Whoa, how did I JUST find this girl? Well better late then never! Check out some of her outfit posts below! XO, Liza

Ummm... are you serious? This outfit is SICK. Those shorts? The fuzzy sweater tucked in? Amazing.

Miu Miu socks. Adorable.
I love this picture. She is so darn cute.

This look is fierce. So Alexander Wang with the braid and the off the shoulder sweater.

Darling! This whole outfit is perfect to a T.
Again, amazing.

Outfit Post: Bat in a Cave

For a lovely evening at The Edison downtown with John, I found it a suitable venue to whip out my Rack 75 dress from Church Boutique. I bought this dress a few months back for an event at the studio I am currently recording my record at in Atlanta.  Wanting something a little costume-ish and artist-y, I called the one and only Rodney Burns who co-owns Church with David Malvaney the day before I left for Atlanta. I exclaimed in a panic "I need something completely nuts, off the wall and edgy but still elegant and classy! What do you have on the floor right now?" So after many picture texts of beautiful pieces, I popped in and Rodney pulled this piece for me out of a new unopened shipment in the back from Rack 75. He brought it to me and I immediately died all over myself. A perfect little cotton mini... with a massive twisted crochet overlay and a choker neck with a chain sewn into it. Um, done. So me. I snatched it up, kissed him goodbye, and was so so glad we were able to pull something together at the last minute! So this piece has become a bit sentimental to me! Ha! Rod worked at Maxfield's for 12 years before he opened Church and has the most amazing eye for buying new obscure labels. In my opinion, Church is the only boutique in LA to buy something truly extraordinary and original. I clearly have a love affair. :) Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

Inspired by: Black Swan

Alright everyone, so if you haven't seen "Black Swan" yet in theaters, go NOW. Don't walk. RUN. It is that amazing. I have already seen it twice and it's safe to say, I could easily go again. Sooooo, I thought I would do a post on everything from shoes to tights that will bring out the dancer in anyone! Whether it's  a leotard that could be paired with a high waisted skirt or a simple pair of ballerina flats, dance wear is not just for ballet class anymore! Take a peak at my faves below.  XO, Liza

Beautiful Natalie Portman dancing the part of the Black Swan

Marc by Marc Jacobs Lattice Print Tights, $28. These sweet grey tights would look fabulous with a little shift dress or even a pair of black tap shorts and an awesome blouse.
Opening Ceremony Bucket Sleeve Leotard,  On sale for 144.20. This is on my wish list at the moment because I would wear this with everything and anything! I have always loved taking leotards to the street after ballet class, pairing them with some ankle length skinny jeans or denim shorts.
I adore the scoop back and the sleeves.
Haute Hippie Ballerina Skirt. How sweet, right? I like it paired with black boots, as putting it with flats might be a little too costumey.
Marc Jacobs Flats with Double Ankle Strap, $475. These kind of remind me of a pair of Chloe's from a few years ago. Love them though.
Repetto Patent BB Red Flats. Since Repetto is a dance shoe brand, there is no doubt that these are the most comfortable flats out there (Lanvin comes in a close second). Although I'm somewhat partial to Lanvin as I wear them like slippers, Repetto's are no doubt, the originals. I love this color of red too.
Bacini Blush Lace Tank Bra, $40.  How pretty is this little bra? I wear my Hanky Panky lace bras to death... this one most definitely needs to be added to the collection.

Plush Full Foot Fleece Lined Tights, $35. With it being absolutely frigid outside, these fleece lined tights are perfect for those cold winter nights when you want to wear a dress or skirt, but not freeze your tush off!

Bodyline Dada Body Fringe Shoulders Bodysuit, $400. This one is super expensive for a leotard, but it's pretty awesome. I had to throw it in the mix.

Outfit Post: Holiday Time Treats

I love winter time in Chicago. Although it's only about 20 degrees and I practically have to wear a zallion layers everytime I go outside, I can't help but get excited when I see Christmas lights, fresh snow, and holiday treats. Today Angel and I went up to Andersonville to the Swedish bakery to get a few yummy Christmas time goodies. My choice? The little frog filled with cake and marzipan. I'm a sucker for anything super sweet and in the shape of a cute animal! Hope you are all having a great week. Tonight I'll be snuggling up on my couch with some Intelligentsia coffee and Top Chef All Stars on Bravo. XO, Liza

Trend Spotlight: Crushed Velvet

Crushed Velvet. Ahhh, what a delicious fabric and ohhhh how horribly awry it can go if you don't watch it! Here are my very carefully plucked picks from this season's scrumptious trend.

X. Jewls

Just to start off my velvet tirade, here is a darling picture of DJ Bip Ling with a sick velvet head piece. I'm envious of this one. I could do without the Ray Ban Wayfarer's though.

Alexander Wang Bustier Romper, $545. Well worth it. I would wear the day lights out of this piece.

The detailing is so beautiful. The buttons and lace are so reminiscent of the Edwardian era. Definitely right up my ally.

Bodkin Crushed Infinity Legging, $127. I need to run down to TenOverSix on Melrose and snatch these. Such a good throw on. I hope they have my size left!

Velvet Dr. Martens, $160. Seriously? I know. These are over the top. But imagine them with darling cable knit cream tights, a mini pleated black skirt, a billowing silk tuxedo blouse, and a big fur coat? Um, yes. I want that whole look on this instant.

Lover dress, $368. Ah, it's nice to sometimes bust out something super form fitting. Liza and I tend to go for things that swallow us whole, but I could definitely go for this dress with a nice tight chignon early 90's style and a massive necklace. Love it.

With Hearts in My Eyes Velvet Lori Shorts, $140. Liza has already gobbled these up in the pants version. I am still biding my time trying to be selfless with my holiday shopping. Haha, it's hard!! But in time, these shorts and the pants will definitely be joining my velvet collection for the season.

Tsumori Chisato Print Cardigan, $515. Ok, honestly... Liza and I have a love/hate relationship with Tsumori. All of her pieces completely murder us but they are so so so expensive and out of reach! Her prints are so darling. I mean crescent moons on this little baby? How cute! She is so innovative and her garments are perfectly made in and out.

I love how it capes out it in the back. It would be perfect with tap shorts, a great pair of tights or thigh high socks and flat boots.

Alexander McQueen Velvet Scarf, $395. Ohhh, McQueen I miss you so much. I know the skulls are tired, but I still collect these just cause I love them. And now we have velvet available so this is a must.

I love how the skulls are less visible when on. This is a great piece.

Alexander Wang Velvet Pullover Sweatshirt, $485. I want to sleep in this every night. End of story.

Bow Body Suit, $48. No explanation is needed on this one. I would throw this on under everything in my wardrobe.

Velvet Turban, $48. So fun for the holidays and with totally absurd colorful make up like this. Why not? Fashion is supposed to be experimental. Let's get crazy.

Valentino Haute Couture Dress. Ok. Dun. Dun. Dun. Here is the love of my life. And above all, one of my favorite little buttons, Frida Gustavsson is wearing it. I would do anything for this dress. Anything!

Some fashion "do's" for velvet.

Cutie pie Alexa.
